Programs in digiKidz™:
Digital Film:
Are you interested in making your own movie or music video? Do you want to capture a 'chase scene' on film? In the digiKidz™ Digital Film-making program, learn how to handle a camcorder & improve your filming techniques. Write an original storyboard and use computer software to create digital music and edit your movies.
LEGO Robotics:
Do you like building with Lego? Are you ready for more of a challenge? Do you want to learn how to program robots and compete in FLL (FIRST Lego League) competitions? digiKidz™ roboteers can show you how. A series of challenges will hone your collaboration, programming, inventiveness, and strategic skills. In the digiKidz™ LEGO Robotics program, build and program a robot to execute a number of tasks. Teach your robot to navigate a maze, conquer challenges, and be the first team to complete an assigned mission.
Stop Motion Animation:
Do you have a collection of toy cars that are keen to come-to-life? Do you like working with play-dough creating your own characters? In the digiKidz™ Stop Motion Animation program, you will create your own animated movies using stop motion animation computer software. Use a selection of LEGO® bricks, play-dough and small toys. Add your favourite song or create a new digital soundtrack. Add zany voice-overs to complete the project.
Game Design: NEW this summer!
Week 4 (July 30-Aug.3rd ) and week 5 (August 7-10th ). Morning sessions only. Geared to ages 9-14.
Do you want to learn how to make computer games the fun and easy way? No problem. In the 2012 digiKidzT Game Design session you will make fabulous looking games with music, voice-overs, animated graphics and neat backgrounds. Join us this summer in a fun and creative session!
Advanced LEGO Robotics:
Offered 1 week: August 13-17th afternoon session. Geared to ages 9-14
If you consider yourself an experienced roboteer and wish to advance to the next level, here is your chance. Enroll in the 2012 digiKidzT Advanced Lego Robotics and advance your skills in both building and programming. Learn about different programming styles and creative uses for common parts. Pre-requisites: experience with Lego Robotics, preferably the NXT, including the NXT software.
Junior Digital Experience: Full day session
Week 2: July 16th-20th and Week 4:July 30th-August 3rd. Geared to ages 6-9.
Are you between the ages of 6 and 9 years old? Are you bubbling over with creative energy and LOVE the digital age? You are never too young to start using Digital Technology to express your creative ideas. Learn about Film-making, Stop Motion Animation. Have fun using a playbookTtablet ---try an app or capture video in the 2012 digiKidzT Junior Digital Experience session. Pre-requisites: enthusiasm, energy and the ability to work well with others.
Advanced Digital Experience:
Full day session Week 6: August 13-17. One week only. Geared to kids ages 10-14.
If you consider yourself an experienced film maker and wish to advance to the next level, here is your chance. Enroll in the 2012 digiKidzT Advanced Digital Film-making and advance your skills in both pre and post production work. Learn about the master shot, dolly shot and panning. Learn audio & editing techniques that will transform your film making from the ordinary to the outstanding. Pre-requisites: experience with storyboards, filming, editing and audio techniques, and an ability to work well in groups.
Junior Robotics and Motion: Full day session
Week 1: July 9th-13 and Week 6: August 13-17th. Geared to kids ages 6-9.
Learn to build and program your robot using the LEGO NXT Robotics kit. A series of simple challenges will hone your collaboration, programming, inventiveness, and strategic skills. In this digiKidzT session you also will learn about different types of motion and energy by building cars, planes and crazy contraptions with LEGO blocks as well as using other materials. You will use the scientific method of experimentation along with your creativity and imagination to help your creations take off.
